Qualifications
  • full-time UL Lafayette student
  • minimum of 18 years of age
  • U.S. citizen
  • possess a valid driver's license
  • good moral values
  • no felony convictions
  • good physical condition
Starting Pay

$600.00 per month

Job Description
  • To protect the life and property of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette community by means of foot and vehicle patrols.
  • To take reports of crimes, and enforcing all University, State, and Municipal laws.
  • To work extra events such as footballs games, basketball games, dances, etc.
Rank Structure

In the University Police Student Officer Program rank structure, officers are promoted according to knowledge and experience.
  • New recruits are given the rank of cadet.
  • Upon graduating from A.L.E.T.A. and completing field training, officers are then generally promoted to Student Officer.
  • The next rank officers are promoted to is S.O. II (Student Officer II). By this time, the officer should have working knowledge of the department and experience to be a Field Training Officer.
  • The next rank in the Student Officer Program is S.O.III (Student Officer III). Officers promoted to this position are expected to do training as well as some supervision in certain areas.
  • After S.O.III, theses officers are in command/charge of shifts:
    • S.C. (Shift Commander),
    • followed by A.H.S.O. (Assistant Head Student Officer), and
    • H.S.O. (Head Student Officer).
