Traffic Advisory for August 17, 2016

Due to the recent flooding in South Louisiana over the weekend, Freshman Move-In was moved to Wednesday Aug. 17. The influx of students and families on campus will impact traffic and parking throughout the main UL Lafayette campus from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. that day.

Unless you are moving a student into a residence hall and are following the housing assignment instructions that have been emailed to you, avoid the following streets:

• Rex Street
  • Traffic on Rex Street will be reversed, with cars entering from East Lewis Street and exiting to the right onto East St. Mary Boulevard. Rex Street will be closed to all non-Move-In Day traffic from midnight Tuesday until Thursday at 7 a.m.
• East St. Mary Boulevard from Johnston Street to Taft Street
•  Hebrard Boulevard
• McKinley Street from East University Avenue to East Lewis Street
• Tulane Avenue
• East Lewis Street

Parking Advisory

Allow yourself extra time for parking on Wednesday; plan to arrive early. We expect traffic congestion because of the many additional student, parent and volunteer vehicles on campus.

The following parking areas will be utilized for Operation Move-In from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and therefore inaccessible for parking:

• Hamilton Hall - Zone 22: As an alternative, utilize levels 1 and 2 of the Olivier Parking Tower and E.K. Long Zone 15, if necessary.
• Zones 8, 10 and 11: As an alternative, park in E.K. Long Zone 15 on Wednesday. (Zone 11 will be used as a staging area for vehicles moving in and Zones 8 and 10 will not be accessible because of the Rex Street closure for students moving into the Conference Center.)
• The eastbound lane of Hebrard Boulevard running from East St. Mary Boulevard to Boucher Street. This area will be used to assist with staging of residential students who will be moving into on-campus housing.

Transportation Services will have staff monitoring the situation all day.
