Patrol

Officers maintain 24-hour patrol coverage on foot, bicycles, or in motor vehicles. They respond to crimes, illnesses, fires, service calls, traffic accidents, and other emergencies; participate in crime prevention and public safety campaigns; receive, process, and investigate complaints; arrest offenders and attend court proceedings; monitor and control traffic and respond to parking complaints; conduct security checks; and safeguard the custody and disposal of evidence and lost and found items.

Investigations

Officers assigned to the Investigation Division investigate crimes against persons and property. Their duties involve the close examination of the particulars of complaints and crimes that are filed with the department in order to identify and apprehend suspects to reported offenses. The detectives engage in information follow-up, interview and interrogation, warrant application, suspect apprehension, and court appearances.

482-2TIP: Crime Stoppers Tips Line

The UL Lafayette Police Department operates an anonymous Crime Stoppers Tips Line to assist the department and the community in the prevention and solving of crime. Members of the community are encouraged to report any information regarding crimes that may of have occurred by dialing 482-2TIP (or 2-2TIP from an on-campus line) and follow the instructions given. All callers will remain anonymous.

Rave Guardian App

When you download the Rave Guardian App to your phone, you can use a number of features including a panic button that immediately and directly connects you to campus safety via GPA, anonymous crime tip reporting, and creating a network of 'Guardians' to help you remain safe on- and off-campus.

Lost and Found

If you are a person that has lost or found property on the campus of The University of Louisiana at Lafayette there are three Lost and Found locations for you to go: Dupre Library, the Information Desk at the Student Union, and the UL Lafayette Police Department.

If you lost property, first check with the departmental offices in the building in which you were in or near. Then secondly, contact the Lost and Found locations. For your convenience the phone numbers for the Lost and Found locations are listed below.

Operation Safeguard

The primary purpose of the UL Lafayette Police Department is to protect life and property of the UL student body, faculty, and staff. Although UL is a relatively safe and secure campus, incidents of theft and burglary do occur where an opportunity exists. We urge you to keep all valuables locked away in a secure location. Thefts and burglaries can occur when you least expect it and when you are most unaware of the risks. You can never be to careful when protecting your personal property from would-be thieves. Although standard precautions and safeguards can offer no complete guarantee against theft, you can take anticipatory action to provide yourself with the best possible chance of property recovery in the event of theft. These precautionary measures require your action in the interest of your property.

The UL Lafayette Police Department strongly encourages you to participate in Operation Safeguard. This program involves making a record or inventory of the serial number, make, model, and brief description of your personal property, including but not limited to laptop computers, music players and other electronic devices, cellular phones, home and car stereo equipment, and video game players. This information will help link the property back to its owner if it is recovered. The recording of the serial number of items of value will make it easier to enter into the National Crime Information Computer (NCIC) if stolen and easier to identify and return to its rightful owner. After the information is completed, keep in a safe place should this information is needed by the police.  If you have an iPhone, you may concider an inventory app such as "my inventory manager" from the app store.  There are similar apps available for Android.
